Why I want a wife satire responses

1. I do think that the thesis is explicity implied in the essay. She is trying to tell the readers all of the reasons that society has sort of made what wives are supposed to do in their marriages.
2. The effect of this repetition is that the readers get the feel of how needy some people are in their marriages. By saying "I want a wife" over again throughout the essay it lets people know all of the reasons that society thinks wives should be doing on a dailty basis.
3.  I do not think that she really wants this type of wife, she is just explaining what society thinks would be the ideal wife. I don't even think a wife like this exists because they are basically completely catering for the husband and doing everything for him. I do think that some of the things she said are true, but not all of them. She probbaly wrote this essay so that people can see what society is making of wives at that time.
4. Brady defines what it's like to be a wife by stating a bunch of things that would make the perfect wife.
ex) I want a wife who will not bother me with rambling complaints about a
wife's duties. But I want a wife who will listen to me when I feel the
need to explain a rather difficult point I have come across in my course
studies. And I want a wife who will type my papers for me when I have
written them.

I don't think that wives are really like this, I think she just wanted her readers to react at what society was making of wives at that time.

5. Dear Brady,
I think your essay does a good job at making a visualization of what people think their wife should be like. I think that it shows the great differences between men and women and that sometimes people just automatically think that women will do everything in the house. I like that you wrote this essay because maybe it will open people's eyes about how we need to make men and women more equal.

Prisoner response

I felt really bad for the prisoners that came to visit us. I think that it was a very good idea to have prisoners with addictions come to our school and speak with us because it will hopefully open the eyes of some people and they will change their ways. I think a lot of people think that some of the actions they do will not affect them later in life, or it won't get them into a ton of trouble and that they could end up in prison like these people. It was nice being able to have one on one talks with some of them after the assembly was over. The ones that I talked to couldn't stress enough that they wished they had hung out with different people, or that their other friends could have stopped them from getting into drugs.

James Thurber Satire

The little girl and the wolf: In this satire, thurber had most of the story just like the original story. At the end he surprised me by having the little girl know automatically that it was not her grandma, and that it was the wolf. She took matters into her own hands and shot the wolf, and in the original tale she didn't do that. This satire was more realistic because if a wolf was disguising as a grandma, you would know right away that it wasn't a human.

The Bear: The bear was an alcoholic and his ways were very distructive and his family did not appreciate what he had been doing. Since he realized that his family was not happy, he changed his ways completely, but in the same sense he was being disruptive to the family and they were still unhappy. So sometimes if you are trying to change yourself, don't change too much or else you will be causing the same disturbance as before.

The birds and the foxes: This satire was hard to understand because I didn't know which story he was trying to compare it to. What I got from this was that the foxes did not like the orioles and so they wanted to get rid of them by destroying their living area.

Fable Responses

1) The hare and the tortoise: This fable is about how the hare and the tortoise are racing, and the hare gets cocky and thinks that he can easily beat the tortoise, so he takes a nap, but the tortoise ends up winning because he kept things slow and steady and didn't get cocky. Moral: plodding wins the race.

2) The old hound: This fable is about how a dog used to be really young and strong but over time he has gotten older and weak so he gets abused because he isn't as sharp as he used to be. Moral: No one should be blamed for his infirmities.

3) The sheperd's boy: A boy was tending to all of his sheep and when he got bored he yelled to the village "wolf, wolf" so that he would get attention, but after two times, a wolf really did come and the villagers did not believe him so the wolf ate all the sheep. Moral: A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth.

4) The mischievous dog: This dog was always sneaking up behind people and biting their ankles, so his owner put a bell and chain on him to make sure he could not be so quiet and quick anymore, and the dog saw that has a badge of honor but it was really an embarrassment. Moral: Those who achieve notoriety often mistake it for fame.

5) The camel adn the arab: A man asked his camel if he wanted to go up the hill or down, and it's obvious that the camel will have to eventually do the other option, so it did not matter which way they went first. Moral: Do not ask obvious questions.

6) The bundle of sticks: A mans sons were asked to break a bundle of sticks but they could not do it, and once they untied to the bundle it was much easier. Moral: Union gives strength

7) The two frogs: Two frogs were together and they came across a very deep well, and one suggested they go into it but the other frog mentioned that they might not be able to get out again since it was so deep. Moral: Do nothing without regard of the consequences.

8) The wolf and the horse: A wolf came across a field of oats, and told the horse that there was a field of oats that the horse would enjoy, but the horse told the wolf that if wolves were supposed to eat oats, the wolf would have never told the horse about it. Moral: Men of evil reputation, when they perform a good deed, fail to get credit for it.

9) The wolf and the kid: A kid saw a wolf when he was sitting on his porch, and he told the wolf to go away and he was being brave, but the wolf was far away and could not get onto the porch so he would have done him no harm. Moral: It is easy to be brave from a safe distance.

10) The two crabs: Two crabs were strolling along on the sand and the mother told the child to walk straight, and the child told his mom that he would learn better if the mother did it too. Moral: Example is the best precept.

Cinderella: A girl named cinderella had a step mother and two step sisters that treated her like dirt. They made her do all the chores and never let her have any fun. The prince of the kingdom was having a ball, and her stepmother said she could not go, but luckily a fairy godmother showed up and turned her rags into a beautiful dress. She showed up at the ball and the prince fell inlove with her but she had to suddenly leave. Luckily she had lost her slipper so his ministers searched the entire town for the girl that fit these slippers. They eventually found that it was cinderella, and then her and the prince got married and they lived happily every after.

Three little pigs: Three pigs had each made their own houses to live in. The first pig wanted to make his house the fastest so he didn't put much effort into it. The big bad wolf came and blew it down and so the pigs hosue was destroyed. The second pigs house was ruined too because he didn't spend much time on his house. The third house was made out of bricks so the wolf could not blow it down. So they learned that if you spend more time on what you are doing, you will eventually be rewarded.

Fairytale poem

The lion looked at me as if he wanted to gobble me right up
I wish i was bigger so that I wouldn't be as scared

I just bought this new pink dress
and I am hoping that the lion does not tear it up

It is dark and dreary outside and I have no idea what to do because Eric is dead
I will do anything for him to come back

All of us ants wanted to go out and play with the grasshopper because we were tired of working
All we want is to have a little break, but that cannot happen

I wish I could have better clothes, instead of all these rags
It would be nice if I could have one night off and have some fun

All this fog around me makes it hard for me to see
It looks as if there is a wolf hiding, but I do not know for sure
I wish I could just magically appear at my grandma's house instead of walking through this forest
I keep turning around, and looking over my shoulder because i get this feeling someone is watching me
I pull my red hood over my head so that I can't see around
If i pretend that I am safe, I believe that everything will be okay
As i am walking throught he forest, I hear sticks cracking behind me
I whip my head around so quick that i hurt my neck
I get so frightened that I start to sprint to my grandma's house
I am extremely releaved when I see her house in sight
As i start walking up to her porch, i hear my name
Then all the sudden i am on the ground and when i open my eyes i see the wolf..

This is unreal sitting at a table with mad hatter
I am very confused and I wish to be out of here

I truly believe that I am the real princess
When I came into the castle and went to bed I felt the pea, so I am releaved

My skin is so pale, so I sit outside hoping to get a little bit of a tan
As I lay outside, i notice that all of these animals flock to me and we break out in song

Valentine's Poem

The bake less cookies that you make are sweet
As we work together in the kitchen
The cookies are rolled out onto the sheet
My crazy taste buds are on a mission
You treat me with so much love and respect
You deserve all the riches in the world
And one thing you do is never neglect
And always manage to keep your teeth pearled
I love how nice you are to everyone
You are kind to all and it never stops
Even after work you are still not done
I want you to relax so you don’t pop
Happy Valentine’s Day my dear mother
From your third and most favorite daughter

This I believe responses

Creating our own happiness: This essay was under humor and laughter and it was about how the author was comfortable inside his warm cozy car at a stoplight, then he saw a couple waiting at a bus stop when it was cold and windy, but at the same time they were happy and content with their own lives and not being miserable just because they didn't have a warm car to be in. My thoughts on this was that I wish everyone could be optimistic like this couple was being because then people would be happy and not in a sad mood all the time just because they didn't have all the finer things in life.

I believe in the car radio: This author was talking about the power the car radio can have on you, and how it can change your mood very quickily if a song triggers a happy memory from the past. I also believe that the radio has that power because music has such a hgue impact on someones mood, and if your feeling down and a happy upbeat song comes on, it can change your mood completely and you can think back to a time when you heard this song, and you can be happy again for even just a few minutes while the song is playing.

Love, laughter and leukemia: This essay was about a mother that has a young daughter with leukemia, and she tries her best every moment of every day to be uplifted and make the best of everything. Even though it is hard to be happy in hard times like those, I also believe that it is important to keep a positive attitude no matter what life throws at you because you never know what will happen, so you should make the best of things.

This I believe: This essay was about a women who overtime had a face that naturally looked like she was mad or sad all the time. People would constantly ask her what was wrong with her, so she decided to change her life around and smile as much as she could because it made her feel better, and people noticed and starting hanging around her more. I believe that when people smile, it has an impact on someone else, and if someone is having a bad day, that one smile might make them feel better.

Erica and Allie's story

The dead body is tethered to the pole in the dark savagery alley in the Bronx, and the epidermis is completely pale white. The alley is perpendicular to the street with the huge natitivty scene, and when the people found the body, the hapiness of the night was dejected, all  because of the defiant young man that had been killed. His mother was enjoying a succelent steak and maize when she found out that her son had been killed. When she got the call, she figured that some random person was calling just to nag her. She was extremely shocked to find out her son had been killed after fighting with another man because the genealogy of the family showed that everyone was fairly well tempered and didn't get in fights.

Word Writing

Lucy was getting ready with her four best friends to go out to the biggest New Years Eve bash in New York City. There were going to be 2,000 guests at this event, and she wanted to be the most glamorous of them all. She had started shopping for her dress months in advance. One day at the mall in early November, she found a long silver glittery dress, and her friends described it as ostentatious.
The night of the party, she was walking down the pavement and then she tripped and it ripped right down the back.  Her splendid dress now completely ruined, she begins to cry.  Suddenly, hit with anger, she picks up a board and begins to smash in the windows of the nearest store.  Customers and employees frightened by the insane lady begin to panic.  As she enters the store, she turns to a man standing near the entrance and begins to bash him with the board.  Her New Years Eve had turned from a night of joy to one of great anger and hatred as she stood in the store ready to destroy anything that stood in her path.
The store manger had called the  police and they came and took her to jail. She hated it, it smelled like fungus all through the jail. She had to stay until Monday to go in front of a judge. The officer looked at her and said, “Was it worth it?” She shakes her head because it wasn’t it. She lost her anger because of a dress and now she’s in jail staring at a clock that doesn’t change. The wet meatloaf that she was served was surprisingly scrumptious, along with the yellow milk.  A very obese cellmate was also quite kind and shared her wet washcloth that was using to bathe with.  It appeared that things were looking up once again. All I could think about was eating was blueberries, they were my favorite food. The quintessence of my dream New Years Eve is not getting mad at little things and taking it out on people in a violent way. Before I leave my cell, I get this fantastically huge back spasm and I fall to the ground in a lot of pain.
